Science Got Loud at Wilmington Park Elementary
Some science lessons stay in the classroom; this one reached the sky!
Volunteers from Valero spent a day with our Club members at Wilmington Park Elementary for a Valero Impact Day. They broke down the science behind Coke-and-Mentos geysers before setting them off in front of our delighted Club members. Every member also had the opportunity to create their own slime with a DIY slime kit that they could take home, so the experimenting didn't have to end when the volunteers packed up!
It was loud, a little messy, and exactly how great STEM learning should feel. Thank you to Valero for fueling curiosity in our community!
A Fundraiser You Could Order Off the Menu
Back-to-school help arrived this year with a side of warm cookies thanks to Hof’s Hut!
On July 21, Hof's Hut wrapped up its 5th annual Backpacks for Back to School fundraiser by donating 288 backpacks filled with school supplies across three local Club organizations: ours, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast. Our Club members were accepting their new backpacks and enjoying freshly baked Hof’s Hut cookies. It was an all out celebration!
Through May and June, Hof's guests added a few dollars to their orders, raising $6,436.54, and Hofman Hospitality Group matched with an additional $1,000 for a total of $7,436.54. Dinner by dinner, that became hundreds of kids walking into the school year ready.
