During this pandemic, many families throughout the Los Angeles Harbor Area are struggling with food insecurity. Our Weekend Wellness Food Program provides over 1,200 families EACH FRIDAY with food and supplies to last them from Friday evening until Sunday evening, when resources are usually scarce.
Each Weekend Wellness Box feeds up to a family of 5, which is over 40,000 meals served each weekend. It is estimated will this project will cost at least $500,000 over the coming fiscal year and the Club has secured about $200,000 to date. You can support this effort by sponsoring a Weekend Wellness Friday through either financial funding or providing non-perishable food items to be placed in the food packets. Please contact the Director of Volunteer Services, Dominique Marino at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on how you can get involved.
Over 1,200 Families Served Per Week!
On July 10, 2020 the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor launched it's first Weekend Wellness Food Distribution Friday where over 300 families recieved full packages of food and supplies to last them from Friday evening to Sunday evening. With the growing need in our community due to this health and economic pandemic, we are upping our numbers to provide over 1,200 families with enough food every Friday to last them through the weekend.
