Purpose
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor (BGCLAH) Hall of Fame honors exceptional individuals whose lives or contributions reflect the values and mission of our organization. This recognition is reserved for:

Distinguished Alumni who have achieved excellence in their personal or professional lives; and
-
Heroes of the Club—individuals or organizations whose time, talent, or treasure have meaningfully advanced our mission.
Inductees are celebrated annually at a BGCLAH signature event and serve as powerful reminders of the lasting impact of Club programs, staff, and community.
I. Categories of Induction
A. Distinguished Alumni
Former Club members who exemplify the transformative power of BGCLAH and who have made meaningful contributions in their respective fields and/or communities.
B. Heroes of the Club
Non-alumni individuals or organizations who have demonstrated extraordinary support, leadership, or commitment to BGCLAH through sustained investment of their time, talent, or treasure.
II. Eligibility Criteria
A. Alumni Honorees must meet the following criteria:

1. Membership: Must have been a registered and active member of the BGCLAH for at least one full program season.
​
2. Impact of Club Experience: Must be able to articulate how the Club had a meaningful, positive influence on their development.

3.Achievements: Must have demonstrated notable achievement in their career, public service, or personal life that reflects the values of the Boys & Girls Club Movement.
​
4.Community Engagement: Must currently be contributing in a positive way to their community, industry, or society at large.
III. Nominations & Selection Process
A. Nominations

Nominations may be submitted by BGCLAH staff, board members, alumni, or community members.

A standardized nomination form will be made available annually and must include supporting documentation or testimony regarding the nominee's qualifications.

B. Selection Committee

A Hall of Fame Selection Committee shall be appointed annually by the Chief Development Officer.

The Committee shall include a mix of board members, staff, alumni, and past honorees (where applicable).

The Committee is responsible for reviewing nominations and shall select inductees by consensus or majority vote.

The CEO will review the final list for alignment with criteria.

Selected inductees will be notified and formally invited to attend and be recognized at a signature event.

Prior to final selection, the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors will be informed of the nominees to surface any potential conflicts of interest. Their input will be considered by the Selection Committee and CEO, who assume final decision-making responsibility.

C. Number of Inductees

The Committee shall recommend no more than three Alumni and two Heroes per calendar year. Exceptions require approval from the CEO.
IV. Recognition
Inductees will be permanently recognized in the BGCLAH Hall of Fame through digital and/or physical displays. Their stories will be shared with Club members, supporters, and the broader community to inspire future generations.
