BANNING HS SPRING CONCERT - MAY 1ST 2026

The Spring Concert 2026 at Banning High School was an unforgettable evening of music that brought together talented young performers from across the community. The program featured dynamic performances by the Mighty Marching Pilots, the school's orchestra and mariachi ensembles, as well as three standout Boys & Girls Club modern rock bands—2hrs Before Takeoff, Subliminal, and Remote Coma.

With an electrifying mix of styles and high-energy performances, the concert drew an overwhelming crowd, filling the theater to capacity and even turning guests away at the door.

The night was a powerful celebration of student talent, dedication, and the vibrant music programs that continue to thrive in the Harbor Area.

ARTS ACADEMY SHOWCASE PORT OF L.A - MAY 2ND 2026

The Arts Academy Showcase, held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Port of L.A. Boys & Girls Club, was a vibrant celebration of student creativity and collaboration across all regions. The event kicked off at 12 PM, with music and program presentations beginning at 1 PM, bringing together participants from the Port of L.A. site, San Pedro Middle School & High School, Wilmington, and Harbor City Boys & Girls Club locations.

The afternoon was filled with energy as each music program showcased their students' talents through a "Greatest Hits of the 2000s" theme.

Audiences enjoyed an exciting mix of pop punk, nu metal, emo, and more, highlighting both musical skill and a shared appreciation for the era's iconic sounds. The showcase served as a powerful reminder of the unity, growth, and creativity fostered through the Arts Academy across all sites.

END OF THE YEAR MUSIC RECITALS - SPRING 2026

As we continue our end of the year music recitals, we are excited to showcase photos from music programs across all of our main sites. These recitals celebrate the hard work, dedication, and passion our students have demonstrated throughout the entire school year.

The purpose of these performances goes far beyond simply playing music. Students learn important recital etiquette such as properly announcing themselves and their musical pieces, showing respect to the audience through professional stage presence, and bowing after performances. These experiences help build confidence, discipline, and respect for the art of live performance.

Our recitals also provide students with valuable firsthand experience performing in front of an audience. Stepping onto a stage can bring feelings of nervousness, fear, anxiety, and adrenaline, but learning how to manage those emotions is an important part of becoming a performer. It is often not until students experience a live performance themselves that they truly begin to understand the challenges many professional musicians and artists face every time they step onto a stage. Being a talented musician is one achievement — performing confidently in front of an audience is another skill entirely, and one our students continue to develop with every recital.

SOUTH REGION STEAM GALA - MAY 16TH 2026

The Region South STEAM Gala 2026 was held on May 16th at Gardena High School, bringing together students and programs from across the region to celebrate creativity, innovation, and achievement in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).

The event featured interactive booths, student art displays, robotics demonstrations, and live performances that highlighted the talents and hard work of participating students. Among the programs proudly representing the Boys & Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor were Banning High School, Wilmington Middle School, and Harry Bridges Spann School music programs, showcasing the creativity and dedication of their student musicians and performers throughout the event.

FLEMING MS FAMILY FEST - MAY 21ST 2026

At Fleming Middle School's Family Fest, 5th grade students from neighboring schools are invited to visit campus with their families to explore everything Fleming has to offer.

Guests can tour classrooms and experience programs such as robotics, athletics, band, drill, and leadership through interactive showcases and demonstrations.

The event is designed to help families get a feel for campus life, meet staff and students, and discover the many after-school and enrichment opportunities available at Fleming Middle School.
