This past Wednesday, the Boy & Girls Club of Wilmington hosted their 3rd annual Dia de los Muertos celebration. We had our largest turnout yet, with over 500 community members in attendance! The Mexican holiday celebrates friends and family members who have died and honors those who are no longer living. This free event was organized entirely by the Keystone Leadership teens at the Wilmington Boys & Girls Club. All who attended enjoyed tradition Mexican Dia de los Muertos celebrations, such as baile folkorico, and ofrendras made by several community organizations. They also enjoyed live music by our Arts Academy bands, several local vendors selling food and crafts, sugar skill making and face painting.
A special thanks to iheartWilmington, Her Escape Boutique, Banning High School Magnet, Banning High School Fire Academy, and Mujeres Unidas for making this event possible. A great time was had by all and we definitely are looking forward to this celebration next year!
