Thanks to the Port of Los Angeles, we have been given the opportunity to serve hundreds of youth per year at our Port of L.A. Boys & Girls Club with daily supper, homework help and valuable enrichment programs.
Recently, we have been invited by the Port of L.A. to provide even more learning opportunities to our youth by participating in the first Port of L.A. Leadership Conference on February 20 and the 2nd Annual STEM Funshop of March 12.
We took 45 Club middle school youth to the Leadership Conference to participate in educational activities, exploration of future careers, a harbor boat tour and an opportunity to speak with harbor engineers, environmental scientists, Port Police officers or Port Pilots.
We were also invited to present at the Port of L.A. STEM Funshop at Banning’s Landing. We brought our Port of Club youth to demonstrate 3D printing, robotics and virtual reality with the Google Cardboard.
