Meet Our Youth of the Year 2017 Candidates – Jarmiah Gerges of our San Pedro Club

“For these kids it takes a lot of effort to focus in a classroom and learn the material the teachers are giving. If I was in a position of authority able to I would create training for these teachers, informing them on how to conform to the kids needs instead of the kids changing for each individual teacher.”

Jarmiah Gerges has been a member of the San Pedro Boys & Girls Club for the past four years. During his time at the Club, he’s become active in clubs and programs through his school and community which has helped him better himself and the people around him. Jarmiah has been able to overcome his academic and personal struggles and “was able to rebound and let my mistakes shape me instead of define me.”

If I was in a position of authority able to I would create training for these teachers, informing them on how to conform to the kids needs instead of the kids changing for each individual teacher.” Jarmiah hopes to be able to continue to be able to give back to his club and community through mentorship and continue to inspire the people around him.
