For the last five years, our Gold Partner, the PVG Foundation has worked with Helen’s Cycles and our organization to give away 100 bicycles per year to Boys & Girls Club youth in the South Bay. At their latest giveaway event on May 11 at the Buffalo Fire Department Restaurant in Torrance, the PVG Foundation awarded their 500th bicycle.
Boys & Girls Club youth, ages 6-18, from our Clubhouses in San Pedro and Wilmington and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson participate in an essay contest in order to win a new bicycle. The essays ranged from high school students hoping for a new bicycle to take to some (some who have never owned a bike) to younger participants hoping to learn how to ride a bike and share their reward with their sibling.
