On February 26, engineers from Raytheon visited the Wilmington Boys & Girls Club for Girl Day of Engineering Week. They spent time with our middle school girls and explained career options available in the fields of engineering, science and math. They also challenged our students to compete in the “marshmallow challenge” – a game to apply engineering principles while having fun.
After the marshmallow challenge was completed, the visitors from Raytheon explained that the groups who do the best at this activity are recent graduates from engineering and design programs and recent graduates from kindergarten. It proved to our students their own ability to apply engineering principles and possibly develop a career in the field.
The engineers and our newest Board member Jennifer Prindle from Raytheon’s El Segundo plant visited as part of Raytheon’s Math Moves U initiative. More information at www.mathmovesu.com.
