Volunteer

Whether you are a company or an individual wanting to volunteer, you are so important to our mission. All volunteers make a significant impact in the lives of our members. The excellence of our programs is in part thanks to those who generously donate their money, time and expertise to help our youth reach their full potential.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP

Tutors and Homework Help

Homework Helpers & Tutors are needed to help Club kids with their homework. Grade levels of Club kids vary but focus mostly on elementary and middle school levels. Higher Math tutors are needed for High School Academic support. Our Clubhouses seek homework helpers and one-on-one tutors Monday through Thursday between the hours of 3pm – 5pm. Volunteer needs and hours vary by location.

Sports, Health and Fitness

Make a difference by getting kids fit! Volunteers are needed to help Club members learn fundamentals of sports, new fitness skills, and a love of being active.
Athletic Volunteer Opportunities can also include assistance with the Sports Leagues such as scorekeeper, coach, or referee. Volunteer needs and hours vary by location.

Art and Music

Share your love of art with kids by supporting our Art Programs. You’ll help to encourage youth to be free in the creative process as well as help to set up and/or clean up our arts room.
Our Clubhouses would like to engage Art Room volunteers Monday through Friday between the hours of 4:30pm - 6:30pm. Volunteer needs and hours may slightly vary by location but the overall goal of sharing your love for the Arts will remain the same at each of our sites.

CALLING ALL CORPORATE VOLUNTEERS!

There are several corporate opportunities that can help Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor to achieve our mission! The service days act as great team-building opportunities that allow companies to impact their local communities while having fun. We rely on volunteer groups to enhance the lives of our Club members by providing new opportunities to engage with caring adults from the community through fun and educational activities. We look forward to planning an engagement opportunity with your group! Volunteer projects can accommodate anywhere from five to 40 people. Please note that larger groups (15 or more) take additional planning and consideration.

  • After school tutoring, grades 1 through 12. Spend one-on-one time with our members assisting with homework. We have MANY opportunities here so we will be able to tailor a schedule to suit your team.

  • Help us create a positive environment for our programs by landscaping or decorating at one of our centers.

  • Organize a company-wide holiday donation drive for items like Thanksgiving Food or Christmas Toys

  • Help host or plan special events for those we serve and their families, including holiday parties, “Open the Blue Door” open houses, monthly birthday celebrations and more!
